It wasn’t my
idea to get a dog
but I
understand why she wanted to get one.
She wanted
someone to be excited
at the end of
the day
when she got
home.
She wanted a
companion
to go on long
walks.
She was
looking for unconditional love.
She was
seeking those things
she once
found in me.
I’m glad we
got a dog.
